A modern black and white Spanish wedding at Els Calderers

The history: Full of character, Els Calderers is a charming place for a Spanish style wedding with an edge. This Mallorcan black and white wedding is steeped in tradition and exudes a Mediterranean atmosphere while setting stylish, contemporary accents.

The site: This inspiration shoot takes place in the beautiful mansion from the 13th century. The building is arranged around a central courtyard called La Miranda and is surrounded by a large forest called La Era, making it a perfect hidden haven. This historic property is full of tradition and culture.

The atmosphere: An elegant and modern celebration with a nod to the past. Two table landscapes were used for the celebrations – one for the daytime celebration and the second for an evening celebration. Unusual shapes and textures created a contemporary feel in an otherwise traditional setting. Black, ivory and neutral tones were used for a sophisticated fashionable atmosphere. The hexagonal wooden altar creates an undeniably modern feel.

The details: The day table landscape embodied simple but trendy elegance. The flowers included white roses, feather-light white wheat, and lots of green. Transparent glassware adds sophistication and shine. Individual business cards with a single crisp sheet sat elegantly on every place setting. Black candles and marbled plates were used for the evening table landscape to create an atmospheric feeling. The wedding dress was tasteful and sophisticated, and had a backless halter neck with a chic bow. Her bouquet used different textures and sizes to create a fluffy cloud-like design. The altar was worshiped with the same flowers for a sense of harmony. The groom wore a classic black tie with an eye-catching stripe on the pant leg and lapel for a touch of swagger.

Highlights:

  • When making an elegant statement, think of Coco Chanel’s words: “Simplicity is the keynote of all true elegance”.
  • Try to use environmentally friendly materials whenever possible. This is responsible and appreciated by vendors, suppliers, guests and the planet!
  • When planning a Mediterranean-inspired look, remember to highlight key elements of your location so that they shine through at all times.
